For two weeks in March, the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) turns the focus of the United Nations towards women and gender related issues worldwide. At the same time, civil society is given the opportunity to participate in the NGO CSW Forum, organized by NGO CSW/NY. Independent from the UN, the NGO CSW Forum gives activists from around the world the opportunity to discuss issues pertaining to women and girls, to network, share strategies/good practices, and to lobby governments to implement resolutions and treaties.

The NGO CSW Forum includes a Consultation Day, Reception, and Parallel Events. CSW61 and the NGO CSW Forum will take place 13-24 March, 2017. This year’s priority theme will be “Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work.” The review theme will be “Challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls (agreed conclusions of the fifty-eighth session)”.
